Arthur Piver was a World War II pilot, an amateur sailor, author, printshop owner and legendary boatbuilder who lived in Mill Valley on San Francisco Bay and became 'the father of the modern multihull '. Throughout the 1950s and ‘60s he lived and worked in the San Francisco Bay area and designed and built a series of simple three-hulled yachts, or trimarans. During this time he also made several singlehanded journeys in his trimarans around the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
