A late 19th century tethering post finial, in the form of a horses head.
The casting would have been made in iron and in two halves. At some point in the past the head has been split back into the two halves, resulting in two matching profiles. Originally a bit ring would have been held in the horse's mouth, this is if no longer present.
The quality of the casting is very good and the details are clear. Found in its original black paint.
